In the Catskill Mountains
SUSTAINABILITY
The gratitude of the rare quality of water, an obsession with the conservation of the environment, the admiration for the honest local agriculture, are the driving elements since the birth of The Alton adventure.
Sustainability
A NEW YORK FARM DISTILLERY
The Alton Distillery uses 100% grains harvested in the State of New York, a special mix of indigenous corn, red winter rye, winter grown and wheat, spring and winter barley, and buckwheat from the NY Finger Lakes.
The milling of the grains foreseen by the different mash bills takes place according to the production schedules in-house at The Alton Distillery.
The byproduct of our distillation, both nutrient-dense and rich in fiber, is delivered fresh to local farmers as a healthy diet supplement for their livestock.
SOME OF THE ALTON
SUSTAINABLE PARTNERS
GROWING GRAINS
Through our work over the years with our flour mill Farmer Ground Flour, our farm has transitioned to specializing in grains grown for human consumption. This involves a constant process of agronomic and cultural practices that enhance the quality of the end product. This starts with variety selection and tailoring our rotations and fertility practices to express in the crop the qualities we want.
DISTILLATION TECHNOLOGY
60 years of history, a Research and Development department where technicians and engineers are constantly looking for new technological solutions to improve the efficiency of the plants, reduce consumption and reduce the environmental impact as much as possible.
TIME-TESTED
COOPERAGE TECHNIQUES
To best meet our clients’ needs, we constantly strive to obtain the best oak and utilize the most current machinery while remaining true to time-tested traditional cooperage techniques. Our dedication to maintaining the highest level of quality and service is evident in the care taken at every step of the coopering process. This ensures that every distillery receives a highly crafted, subtly flavored, American oak barrel at an exceptional value.
